About the Test Prep Pros

Jay Lipman

Since 1999 Jay Lipman has been dedicated to developing strategies to ensure success on standardized tests and sharing those strategies with students and with other test-prep professionals. His work has been successfully applied by students of all ages from the proverbial “four corners” of the globe.

Jay founded Test Your Best™ in 2003 to bring his test-taking methods directly to students near his home in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Test Your Best™ specializes in individualized test prep instruction for the SAT, PSAT, ACT, ISEE, and SSAT for private school and college applicants, and the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT for graduate school applicants. The company also provides admissions consulting services. Through Test Your Best, Jay has developed a highly successful curriculum and recruits and trains high-caliber tutors to work directly with the company’s local clientele.

The CORE System™ Jay developed is an integral part of a unique summer program which was designed from the ground up as the premiere test prep and cultural immersion program for international students planning on studying in the U.S. Access America Prep continues to bring Jay’s tried-and-true methodology to students from across the globe. The AAP experience has earned praise from educators around the world and serves an indispensible function in the lives of attendees.

Jay Lipman, Esq. graduated from the New York University School of Law in 1998. He worked in the Corporate Law department of White & Case, LLP, in New York until 1999, when he left to pursue a career in education. He maintains his membership in the Connecticut Bar and has taught Legal Studies courses at Fairfield University. Jay has worked with the National Paralegal College since its inception in 2003, developing curricula and teaching courses for paralegals. He has an ongoing relationship with the school as an adjunct professor of legal studies.

From 1999 to 2002 Jay taught at, and developed curriculum for, one of the nation’s largest test prep companies. In addition to test prep instruction his duties there included hiring and training teachers on a regular basis, as well as observing and evaluating teachers in Connecticut and New York. Jay was also involved in developing curricula for various standardized test preparation courses and actively participated in developing and implementing ongoing curriculum changes. Jay was one of a select few at the company asked to consult on the successful redevelopment of the company’s national teacher training program.

Our Superb Tutors

Although my proprietary CORE System™ is available to students across the globe through other venues, my tutors and I thoroughly enjoy working directly with our local students. Because parents continue to tell their friends about me and my tutors even after their last child has graduated from high school, and because a number of local guidance counselors regularly refer students to us, every year Test Your Best™ must turn away students here in Fairfield County because we simply cannot help them all in person. With my years of experience training teachers it would be easy to hire more teachers who could then take on more students. Or, like some other tutoring companies, I could simply "farm out" students to tutors who would have limited, if any, ongoing relationship with me and with Test Your Best. It would no doubt look quite impressive to some if I were able to list dozens of tutors on my website servicing vast areas throughout the state. Instead I have a few thoroughly dedicated and experienced tutors who work with local students. I am updated after each tutoring session, and my tutors and I regularly discuss student progress.

Students feel "comfortable, encouraged, and never overwhelmed."
