Founded in 2003, TYB is dedicated to serving your test prep needs.
The most personalized in-home test prep in Fairfield County
About the Founder
Since 1999 Jay Lipman has been dedicated to developing strategies to ensure success on standardized tests and sharing those strategies with students and with other test-prep professionals. His work has been successfully applied by students of all ages from the proverbial “four corners” of the globe.
Jay founded Test Your Best in 2003 to bring his test-taking methods directly to students in Fairfield County and New York City. TYB also frequently works with boarding school students home during weekends or breaks. Test Your Best specializes in individualized test prep instruction for the ACT, SAT, PSAT, ISEE, and SSAT for private school and college applicants, and the LSAT, GMAT, and GRE for graduate school applicants.
Jay Lipman, Esq. graduated from the New York University School of Law in 1998. He worked in the Corporate Law department of White & Case, LLP, in New York until 1999, when he left to pursue a career in education. He maintains his membership in the Connecticut Bar and has taught Legal Studies courses at Fairfield University. Jay has worked with the National Paralegal College since its inception in 2003, developing curricula and teaching courses for paralegals.
Through Test Your Best, Jay has developed a highly successful curriculum that he and his tutors use to work directly with the company’s local clientele. The CORE System™ Jay developed is an integral part of a unique summer program which was designed from the ground up as the premiere test prep and cultural immersion program for international students applying to U.S. universities.
From 1999 to 2002 Jay taught at, and developed curriculum for, one of the nation’s largest test prep companies. In addition to test prep instruction his duties there included hiring and training teachers on a regular basis, as well as observing and evaluating teachers in Connecticut and New York. Jay was also involved in developing curricula for various standardized test preparation courses and actively participated in developing and implementing ongoing curriculum changes. Jay was one of a select few at the company asked to consult on the successful redevelopment of the company’s national teacher training program.
Although his proprietary CORE System™ with PrepTag® integration is available to students across the globe through other venues, Jay and his tutors thoroughly enjoy working directly with local students. Because parents continue to tell their friends about TYB even after their last child has graduated from high school, and because a number of local guidance counselors regularly refer students to us, every year Test Your Best must turn away students here in Fairfield County because we simply cannot help them all in person. Instead of filling a stable with inexperienced people, we have a few thoroughly dedicated and experienced tutors. Jay is updated after each tutoring session, and he regularly discusses student progress with their tutors.
